1K views · 2 weeks agoUnderstanding solo mining
Roughly every ten minutes, Bitcoin holds a draw. The first machine to find the winning number adds the next block and wins the jackpot. Solo means all or nothing. Here is the current draw, live.
An average, not a countdown
The figure under the card is an average, not a wait: on every draw your machine gets the same small chance, today as tomorrow. And small machines have already won:
- Bitaxe Gamma alone, 1 TH/s 3.14 BTCJuly 2026 · block 957,382 · its odds: almost those of your card
- Avalon Nano 3S, 6.7 TH/s 3.14 BTCMay 2026 · block 951,771 · in a home fleet of about 147 TH/s
- NerdQAxe++, 4.8 TH/s 3.13 BTCSeptember 2025 · block 913,272 · with its own node
- Bitaxe, about 3 TH/s 3.19 BTCJuly 2024 · block 853,742 · the very first block found by a Bitaxe
These are exceptions: most small machines will never find a block. Blocks can be checked on mempool.space, machines as reported by the miners. All blocks found solo, updated daily
And with your machine?Your odds of finding a block, and your ticket to share.

My projects
The pool I mine on myself, open to everyone since July 2025. And soon, an app to manage your miners.
my solo mining pool
I first set it up for myself, so my machines would no longer depend on someone else's server. In July 2025 I opened it to everyone, for free. The challenges and leaderboards are there because waiting years for a block is a long time.
Set up my machine, in 3 steps
Plug in your machine
Bitaxe, NerdQaxe, Avalon Nano or anything that speaks Stratum. Open its settings page in your browser.
Paste these settings
EU serverstratum+tcp://eu.findmyblock.xyz:3335Rentalsstratum+tcp://eu.findmyblock.xyz:3336Usernameyour Bitcoin address, a dot, your worker namePasswordxFollow your machine
On findmyblock.xyz, type your Bitcoin address: you see your hashrate, your best attempts and your place on the leaderboard.
How it works under the hood
FindMyBlock is not open source. Its core comes from Public Pool, Benjamin Wilson's free software project. Non custodial: the pool never holds your bitcoin, every machine mines straight to the chain, and the reward goes to your address without passing through me.
What about Bitcoin Cash?
The community asked for it: FindMyBlock also runs a Bitcoin Cash solo pool, with the same machines, odds about 270 times better, for a block about 270 times smaller. It has already found 6 blocks, 2 of them with small machines. The full story
my app to manage your machines
An app to monitor and tune all your machines in one place. Coming soon.
My timeline
None of it was planned. A graphics card first, then the wish to depend on nobody: my own machines, my own node, my own pool. It is my way of helping, at my own scale, to keep the network decentralized.
Why I keep going, and my full story
The channel and the pool are free. The servers, the electricity and the test machines come out of my own pocket. That is not going to change.
