Thor P2 vs Thor X1: which one to choose?
Hammer’s Thor X1 and Thor P2 share the same chip, the BM1373. The X1 has one, the P2 two, with a big fan and an Ethernet port. Here is the comparison, with figures measured at the wall in my two reviews.

The difference in short
- Chips: one BM1373 in the X1, two in the P2.
- Measured hashrate: 2.1 TH/s for 22 W to 3.22 TH/s for 46 W on the X1, 10 TH/s for 153 W on the P2.
- Connection: Wi-Fi only on the X1, Wi-Fi and Ethernet on the P2.
- Power supply: 65 W USB-C brick for the X1, external XT60 brick for the P2.
Efficiency and electricity
The X1 is still the efficiency champion: 10.6 J/TH in normal mode, the best I have measured on a desk miner. The P2 runs at 15.3 J/TH at 10 TH/s, about like a Bitaxe Gamma. Over a year at €0.20 per kWh, count about €39 of electricity for the X1 in normal mode and €268 for the P2.
Price per TH/s
This is where the P2 strikes back: about €365 delivered for 10 TH/s, around €36 per TH/s, against €67 to €105 for the X1 (€215 to €220 for 2.1 to 3.22 TH/s). For the same hashrate, the P2 costs about two to three times less to buy.
Which one should you choose?
- The Thor X1 if every watt counts, if you want a small, discreet machine in a corner of the desk, or on a tight budget.
- The Thor P2 if you want the most hashrate for your money, in a fixed machine on Ethernet that runs around the clock.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Thor P2 more efficient than the Thor X1?
No: at the wall the X1 does 10.6 J/TH in normal mode and the P2 15.3 J/TH at 10 TH/s. The P2 is, however, three to five times more powerful and cheaper per TH/s.
Does the Thor P2 have an Ethernet port?
Yes, on top of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The Thor X1 only has Wi-Fi.
