NerdQX 8T vs NerdOctaxe: which desk miner?

Two desk miners with several BM1370 chips: four in the NerdQX 8T, eight in the NerdOctaxe. The NerdOctaxe goes further on hashrate and efficiency, the NerdQX 8T costs half as much and runs silent. Here is the comparison, with figures from my reviews.

Efficiency and electricity

The NerdOctaxe runs at about 15 J/TH, measured at the wall: 144 to 146 W for nearly 10 TH/s. The NerdQX 8T draws 165 W for 7.8 TH/s, about 21 J/TH, and that figure comes from its interface, which leaves out power supply losses. Over a year at €0.20 per kWh: about €289 for the NerdQX, €254 for the NerdOctaxe.

For a solo desk miner the gap comes to a few euros a month: efficiency should not decide on its own.
